It’s all hands on deck! This is not a drill! We have an urgent need to pack the gallery at the North Carolina General Assembly and we need you there.
Tuesday, June 16th @ 9am NCGA — 16 W Jones St, Raleigh, NC 27601
On Friday, Republican legislators dropped an unannounced 36-page elections bill packed with sweeping changes to North Carolina’s voting laws. The bill would ban election board members from publicly encouraging voter turnout. • Make partisan changes to the State Board of Elections staffing • Reduce campaign finance disclosure requirements • Ban ranked-choice voting statewide • Restrict overseas voters’ participation in state elections • Ban paid petition and voter registration gathering. We need everyone to join us on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in Room 1228 of the Legislative Building for the House Elections Law Committee, and again at 2:30 PM for the House Rules Committee. Make them look you in the face when they vote on this legislation. They’re counting on people not paying attention. They’re counting on empty committee rooms. They’re counting on this moving too fast for anyone to stop it. It’s up to us to slow this bill down. North Carolinians deserve transparency and a chance to be heard before major changes to our elections become law.
